In case you hadn’t heard tonight’s full moon will also be a Supermoon. So in honor of this rare celestial event we thought it would be fun to look at some moon sex myths and facts.

This may sound like it was going to be a myth, however it’s actually somewhat true. A 25 year old NASA intern named Thad Roberts and his girlfriend had sex “on the moon.” If you’re wondering how an intern even got into orbit, not to mention his girlfriend, don’t worry they didn’t hijack a rocket. Thad actually just stole 17 pounds of moon rocks from NASA. The moon rocks had been brought back by Apollo astronauts. The couple then spread the rocks out on their bed and enjoyed some out of this world sex on top of them. After they finished getting their rocks off Thad then posted the rocks for sale online which is how he got busted.
2. Moon Influenced Sex
For some people the moon is believed to have influence over love, sex, and reproduction. Because of this there are a few myths surrounding having sex based upon the moon. For instance many couples who have decided they want to have a girl will only have sex under a full moon. We can’t say with 100% certainty what gender a baby conceived under the full moon will be. However we feel comfortable with saying that if you do have sex under a full moon there is about a 50% chance your child will be a female.
3. The Moon has Sex
You read that right. Some cultures believe the moon engages in sexual relations. The Tlingit people of the Pacific Northwest coast of North America said that lunar eclipses occurred when the sun and his wife, the moon, needed some time alone. With so many eyes on the sky they would turn off the lights while they spent their time together.
While celestial romance is a bit farfetched, and having sex on the moon is a bit unattainable, you can have sex under the moon any time you would like. With the Supermoon being full this month it is a perfect opportunity to get in one last romp under the sky. Take advantage of it before the weather turns night time frolics outdoors into a thing of seasons past.
