Pumpkin spice season is upon us, and while once upon a time pumpkin spice condoms and lube where a joke, they have become a welcome reality in recent years. If you are wondering why or how pumpkin spice has infiltrated every aspect of our lives, even our sex lives, during fall then we have some answers for you.
Spicy
Cinnamon, ginger and allspice stimulate the brain, heart and blood. Clove has been called an aphrodisiac, and nutmeg is said to have such hallucinogenic properties that it is used as a prison drug. Classic pumpkin pie spice combines cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice or clove, together they can really get it on. Seems like those long lines for a pumpkin spice latte are starting to make more sense. Not only does the caffeine perk your brain function, but it’ll be pick me up in the pants if you use it right.
Sciencey

The director of the Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation, Alan Hirsch, MD completed a study to investigate the impact of ambient olfactory stimuli upon sexual response in the human male. The study measured penile blood flow while smelling different odors. It turns out that men were aroused by every scent, though not equally. Only five percent of men got hard from the scent of cheese pizza, six percent pitched a tent for peppermint, while an overwhelming 40 percent stood at attention for the all-American pumpkin pie, particularly in combination with lavender and donuts.
So, enjoy the autumnal bliss for the few short months it is here if for nothing more than just a break from the usual. Cozy up by a fire for a slice of pumpkin pie while you sip lattes and let the spices work their magic to spice things up for you.
